Problems and Possibilities of Positionality: Writing From/Away/Without/Toward/Multiples Of/Embodied Within the “I”
Instructor: Cara Benson
Date: Saturday 23 October, 2010 from 12 noon – 5pm
Postmodernism savaged the notion of a stable subjectivity. Post Identity wants to know no socio-cultural personals. Globalization and a hyper-abundance of digitally disseminated text render the speaker all the smaller. Not to mention post-confessional anti-bourgeois critique of the narcissistic subject. Who are we to utter? How then, to write. We will explore a variety of approaches to the speaking subject, from procedural and collaborative writing which seek to “trick” the I from asserting itself to immersion in an embodied first person perspective.
