The Objectivist Poets

Duration: 5 weeks, 6 April – 4 May (Wednesdays) 4-6PM
An interactive examination of the life, times & writings of a group that was associated through an anthology edited by Louis Zukofsky in 1931 (an appellation which all later rejected as inaccurate &/or inappropriate) including George Oppen, Charles Reznikoff, Carl Rakosi, William Carlos Williams, Basil Bunting and Lorine Niedecker. Course begins with each student choosing (or being assigned) an early small collection of one of these poet’s for review (approx. 500 words).
Required Text: A modest reference library will be made available to students by the instructor.
