The New York Poets

Duration: 5 weeks, 18 January – 15 February (Tuesdays) 6 – 8 PM

An interactive examination of the life, times & writings of two generations of New York Poets: (1st) Frank O’Hara, John Ashbery, Kenneth Koch, James Schuyler, Barbara Guest, & Kenward Elmslie; (2nd) Ted Berrigan, Ron Padget, Anne Waldman, Alice Notley, Tony Towle, Lewis Warsh. Course begins with each student choosing (or being assigned) an early small collection of one of these poet’s for review (approx. 500 words).

The instructor will supply a modest lending library of all these writers.
